Any time not spent on love is wasted.
Where you used to be, there's a hole in the world,
which I find myself constantly walking around in the daytime,
and falling into at night. I miss you like hell.
Your absense has not taught me how to be alone,
it merely has shown that when together
we cast a single shadow on the wall.
The heart may think it knows better:
the senses know that absence
blots people out.
Our hours in love have wings;
in absence, crutches.
This is the sad bed
of chosen chastity
because you are miles
& mountains away.
All the while, believe me, I prayed
Our night would last twice as long.
Morning without you is dwindled dawn.
Constant togetherness is fine—but
only for Siamese twins.
A wall between preserves love.
