"Quran Alone" movement

(Rises and falls. The Biggest mistakes and misconceptions. Perspective and destiny. What are we going to do?)

Today, at the internet, can be found a lot of sites/forums/people who proffess to follow(or are called) "Quran alone" , "Only Quran", "God Alone", "Quran first", "Quranic Islam" etc.

Unlike many of others who claim to believe in The Quran( for example shia and sunnie muslims) these people have taken responsibility to study The Book themselves and have shown an incredible amout of courageness to break off with the traditions, to view the Quran with a new eyes and to say a big NO to the traditional (mis)understandings of the Quran.

As far as my knowledge goes these revolutionary people have made great discoveries and achieved great results in the studying of the book(click to visit their sites). But…, they have produced/uphold their own fallacies and mistakes(which I`ll try to point to), which are not small in number - and what is more important - which are not smaller then the traditional fallacies which they have rejected and fight against, and which are at least equally dangerous(if not more-since now it comes from the people who claim literacy in the book while traditionalists are mainly almost illiterate in regards of the book and know only traditions).

It seems that many proponents of this doctrine, at some stage of their spiritual development, lost their head, treated the book superficially and restorted to the old habits.

Whatever, no one is free from mistakes and misundrestandings, and misconceptions while he is studying the book, but that what counts is how do we respond to our mistakes and misbeliefs, do we blindly uphold them and continue to be wrong or we always reexamine our beliefs and are opened to the new opininons, facts and to the truth. This is why I am writing this, in order to remind people of the mistakes I have noticed (some of these mistakes i have commited myself). My intention is to analyse the movement, point out the mistakes and to look for the reasons which cause them in order to avoid them in future. I hope the movement will not stagnate and degrade but will stay on the course to which they set off  when they have rejected hadith and sunnah or have taken the Quran as the sole source of divine guidance.

Many of the mistakes of the movement (if not all) can be divided in two categories :

1. "hidden" relicts of the old beliefs.

It seems that is very hard to get rid of all of the old habits, opinions, beliefs and particularly way of thinking. They are sometimes so deeply absorbed by our hearts that we practicaly continue to uphold them, without noticing it, even when we openly and declaratively reject them and proffes a new ideology.

One of the variations of this case is the following mistake.

Being poorly acquinted with arabic many of "quranonlies" kept/adopted many false translations of a certain places in the Book and consequently the false traditional concepts lying behind them (thus neglecting important Quranic principle about avoiding conjectures and particularly the principle mentioned in17/36).

2. "hyperreaction" to the old beliefs

The old beliefs, after finding the truth, looks so much disgusting to us that we sometimes automatically reject any concept, idea and solution that reminds us of them, looks similar to them, or is somehow connected with them etc. , even if, objectively, there is no reasonable reason for that. This is a kind of the throwing the baby out with the bath water. This is a kind of negative conditioning and wrong automatic reaction.

The Biggest mistakes and misconceptions of "Quranaloners":

This classification is not strictly correct but is made for didactic reasons. In practice the characteristics of each particular trend are mixed up to form a specific group of people, individuals or ideology.

-Quranic illiteracy Inspite of being more informed about The Quran from an average traditionalist, many of "Quranaloners" are still not studying the book enough, see chapter 73 (and not studying it as it should be studied -carefully, thouroughly and continuously)

-Modernism Some of the Quranaloners, in their study of the book, take more care of being modern then of being correct and objective. Examples…(still in process of writing)

-Intelectualism Some of the Quranaloners, in their study of the book, take more care of being "intelectual" then of being objective. Examples... (still in process of writing)

-Eccentricity There are some people who are almost obssesed with (and) giving the most strange and eccentric interpretation to the Quran. They find a great joy in perverting and complicating the most clear and most simple passages of the Quran attaching the eccentric meaning to it. They seem to be bored with Quran`s simplicity and it seems that they are eager to find something new at any cost. They are not satisfied with the "old" explanations, not because they are incorrect or untrue but only because they are old.

-Feminism

-Westernism

-Scientism

-"Compromisism"

-Unitism (Unitarism) Some of Quranaloners want unity at any cost. They almost prefer unity to the truth.

-Sectarianism

-Believing that Hell is not forever Whoever believs this has closed the doors of his heart to the true taqwa. And has trashed one of the main motivators and energy generators of true believers.

-Underestimation of importance of knowledge of Arabic languaage

-Ignorance of arabic language

"Embelishing" of The Quran (This mistake is a basis of The Eccentricity, Westernism, Feminism, Modernism, Intelectualism and Scientism)

This is one of the mistakes that is often made. It is characteristic not only of/for Quranaloners but for the others schools of thought as well. Subconsciously or possibly consciously(?) the propagators of The Quran attach to It the meanings and concepts which are, so to say, "desirable" and which could be more easily accepted by those to whome the Quran is propagated, than the original meanings. For example, being strongly influenced by advanced Western Civilisation Culture, organised Society and particularly with its (Modern) Science, people are eager to "find" places where The Quran has propheciesed different sorts of scientific discoveries or has given great/crutial/prime importance to The Science or similar. It`s not that I am against The Science but I am against fetching and stretching of the words of The book , and beating it to death, in order to extricate some "scientific meanings". They see The Science everywhere and gave it the status not given by God. It seems that, subsconciously, these people are not satisfied with Gods Teaching and doctrine, and they interpret it, that is, transform it to a more "desirable" Teaching. Some of them, being traditionalists at the beginning of they religious road, possibly, have been humiliated by advanced groups/Societies, and consequently burdened with an inferiority complex , and now, with their "modernised/scientificised" Religion, they finally can have they "revenge". Others, without such a background want too to prove to their friends and relatives that they are not backward and that the new religion they uphold is modern. Not that it is not true, but why they must prove it wrong way and using illegal tools?

Code 19 Deceit Code 19. Alleged mathemathico/numerical miracle/sign. It is amazingly easy for satan to excite Quranaloners into the fake idea of code 19. This section of my site is a comprehensive critical study of code 19.
