Slavery

Salutations to everybody ! I wish you peace , well-being and salvation...

Of course, deep inside of ourselves is embeded a strong wish/sense for justice and equality and we almost instinctively feel that slavery is not a fair practice but there are also other things which are not fair in the same way but which we nevertheless accept. For example some people are rich and some are poor, some posses everything and the other posses only things crutial for living and surviving, but You`ll agree such unequality is not forbiden(otherwise you would be a communist), though, surely, it is not an ideal to which we should aim.
From The God`s book`s verses we obviously see that keeping of slaves is allowed, otherwise prescribing of the freeing of a slave as the expiation for the sin would be redundant or a nonsense. The slavery or possesion (and buying?) of slaves IS ALLOWED according to the Book of The God. Of course it`s not the slavery in it`s classical form but some alleviate/moderate/diluted form- it`s due to the fact that in the book we are ordered to be kind and to treat, all the people, as well as, the slaves nicely( and that is a great improvement and a benefition if you wish!-I would rather choose to be a slave owned by a believer than a "free" citizen of of an oppresive ruler`s country/state ).

We should adjust our "common sense" culture and inheritance to theTeaching of The God and not the opposite. In western and westernised societies and circles slavery is considered as a very negative thing/practice.
Of course imo, in the eyes of God`s book, slavery is far from being a perfect form of social relationship, and it seems that it encourages freeing of slaves, but it does not forbid slavery. Many times (in many cases) the revelation starts from what is POSSIBLE and not from what is ideal like in polygamy case. Remember, we are humans and not the angles, neither we are asked to be it.

Also, the time and space gap between us and "the slavery time/era" in the world(though i believe there are/is still slavery in some areas of the world) is too big to imagine what would happen if the slavery system is forbiden over the night and all the slaves who, for centuries lived as slaves(think of that!), would be liberated over the night. (for more details see the insightful study of Mu/ohammad Qutb -Dillemas over Islam)
It`s not that I think that this is the main reason for not forbidding slavery but it`s worthy of taking into consideration.

Maybe the reason for not forbiding the slavery is due to the fact that the source of slavery would always exist or will exist from time to time.(i will explain this maybe later after more consideration.)

In my opinion, more than anything, The Teaching of God is a very realistic teaching.
NeverthelessThe God is prescribing what does HE wants and not what would WE like(to be prescribed) Him to prescribe. Remember, He will NOT be asked about what He is doing but we WILL!
So, we should accept His judgement and leave all the attempts to embelish God`s Teaching, to make it more acceptable, for God is not in need of that, actually, only sects are in need of that(embellishing)-those who always wants more and more followers/adherents, who are looking for security and not The God and the truth.

Besides other possible reasons for not forbidding the slavery, one could be that The God is actually testing us if we are actually ready to accept His will/verdict no matter what, no matter how hard it could be for us, or not.

There are many similar cases where it seems that the recipients of The Reading(Quran) are somehow unsatisfied with the book`s verdict and are somehow trying to embelish it by interpretating it differently .These cases often happen in regards of some sensitive/hot issues and God`s regulations which are grossly in contradiction with the common sense and overhelming/prevailing/popular opinion, or opinion of masses, or opinion of "intelectual" circles(in the case that the interpreter aspire to a modern or an intelectual interpretation). Many have tried to prove that The Quran actually forbids slavery and have tried to "modernise" Quranic judgement in this, as well as, in regards of other issues, so that it may seem more acceptable.

It seems that we are not satisfied with it, it seems that we are afraid that people would be reppeled from us and the book in case that slavery is allowed or other "backward" regulations of The book are exposed/applied. This is imo due to negative conditining and our and Quran`s spiritual past/history/inheritance which is burdened with a truly backward traditional teaching that is attached and propagated as The Quran`s philosophy-when actually it is not. As for me, I am more "afraid" of this constant tendecy to embelish The teaching of God than of God`s book being backward!

In the study of the book we should take more care of being objective and realistic than of being popular, modern, "advanced" and "intelectual". It`s not our wish and desires that we should follow but the will of The God- all The praise belongs to HIM! He is The Best knower and He is The Wise!
